A collaboration with Stollgb, Yeoman Yarns, & Me…
I’m lucky to consider David Williams a friend. David popped in to the RCA when the Hatakeyama Revisited Dress was on show at the Hidden 2018 Staff exhibition.
David is the Managing Director of Stollgb and Yeoman Yarns in Leicester.
We met and discussed the possibility of making a dress made in collaboration with the Knit Design Centre at Stollgb Leicester and using yarns supplied by Yeoman Yarns.
I wanted to showcase the possibilities of combining digital knit with traditional draping and linking techniques. As I believe there is great value in pushing the boundaries of innovation through technical knit programming and very traditional construction techniques.
The plated rib structure is knitted in Creta 1ply Viscose and fine brushed cotton. The combination of these yarns give the knit structure its wonderful drape.
Thank you very much to all the people at Stollgb and Yeoman Yarns who helped me to create this dress, in particular David Williams and Florina Natea.
The dress was shown at the Royal College of Art’s staff Hidden exhibition in 2020.
